The show produced promises to be very ambitious and exciting. The numerous art works will take over the entirety of the warehouse and be intrinsic to the site.\n \nSurface Arts have created this stimulating exhibition and invited arti sts to Exeter in order to respond to this redundant space. All materials used in this exhibition will be sourced from the site\; all artists wil l work on their own initiatives with limited funds. The traditional gallery and studio c annot always respond to the interactive processes of artistic production so this gives artists a chance to develop and realise site specific\, p erformance\, ephemeral or time based works and much more.\n\nA short res idency or ‘collabortory’ period for artists is taking place in the wareh ouse prior to the exhibition opening. This started on 23rd August and wi ll finish on 17th September with the opening event. It provides an oppor tunity for the artists to work together and allows them to produce work that is truly responsive to the site.\n\nThe show aims to create a non-a lienating environment where artists and the public can engage in a meani ngful exchange of art and ideas.
