Lost in Yonkers

Ongoing through Sunday, March 28, 2010, 8pm

The winner of four Tony Awards, including Best Play, and the Pulitzer Prize, Lost in Yonkers is a remarkable coming of age story. Two young brothers are forced to enter a dysfunctional household consisting of their formidable grandmother, their dim-witted aunt, and their Uncle Louie, a small-time thug. As comical as it is poignant, this Neil Simon masterwork is an examination of lives in an oppressive household, with a dramatic climax that is certain to leave you spellbound.

Venue: Everett Performing Arts Center
Address: 2710 Wetmore Avenue, Everett, WA 98201-3552
Venue Phone: 425-257-8600
Venue Web Link: www.villagetheatre.org
Price: $17-52
Directed By: Brian Yorkey
Written By: Neil Simon
Ticket Phone: 425-257-8600
Contact: Box Office
More info: www.villagetheatre.org

View some of the features, events, people and landscapes that make Washington distinct.

This exhibit not only identifies icons, but explores why and how these icons came to be symbols of our state. More than 65 items have been selected to represent Washington in this exhibit. View Ezra Meeker's covered wagon; see a chunk of concrete from Galloping Gertie; hear Dave Niehaus announce the Mariners 1995 American League Division Series win over the New York Yankees; look over representations of our plentiful natural resources, World's Fair materials, and much more.

See what Washington has given the country, and the world.

Organized by the Washington State History Museum. Supported by Ben B. Cheney Foundation, Click! Cable TV, and Sequoia Foundation.

More info: washingtonhistory.org…

THE GYPSY KING

Sunday, March 21, 2010, 2 – 4:30pm

World Premiering on the Village Theatre Mainstage and written by Emmy-award winner Randy Rogel comes over-the-top hilarity in the new musical The Gypsy King. Leo and Frederick are a father-son acting duo whose unfortunate run-in with the royal guard causes quite the royal ruckus. Bearing a curious resemblance to the arrogant Prince Alfonse, Frederick finds himself in a dangerous position. Laugh riotously as you follow his adventures into the middle of an assassination plot that takes him through a maze of castle doors, to the bottom of a moat, and beyond. With a classic vaudeville feel, this new musical romp will cause quite a stir with its fast-paced comedic action.

More info: www.villagetheatre.org

The Private Lives of Eskimos (or 16 words for snow)

Sunday, March 21, 2010, 7:30 – 9pm

Open Circle Theater is pleased to present the West Coast Premiere of Ken Urban's The Private Lives of Eskimos (or 16 Words for Snow), running March 19 thru April 10.

Ken Urban's brilliant and very dark comedy is a view of one man's descent into madness. Called by NYTheatre "A taut and gripping contemporary techno-thriller" this is a show not to be missed. First a man loses the cell phone with his dead sister's voice, leading to a strange woman answering it, and finally to spam-spouting eskimos. Dark, Chilling and wonderful!

Ken Urban is the internationally acclaimed author of I (heart) Kant, Mushroom, and Halo. This astounding play has been produced in NYC and Chicago, so this is the first production west of the Mississippi. The author has extensively revised this version of Eskimos specifically for this production. Plus, as a treat for Seattlites, the author, Ken Urban, will attend the opening night premiere at Open Circle Theater!
Madrona Children’s Theatre (MCT) Continues Unique Tradition with this Season's "Oliver!"

Mountlake Terrace High School
21801 44th Avenue West, Lynnwood, WA
Thursday, March 25, 2010, 7 – 9pm

The Madrona Children’s Theatre (MCT), in cooperation with Madrona K-8 school in the Edmonds School District, is producing its 17th musical – Oliver! The cast is comprised of 78 Madrona students in two casts (Charles cast and Dickens cast).

As in seasons past, MCT productions are performed by Intermediate (4th – 6th grade), Middle (7th – 8th grade), and DHH students, with all who audition getting to participate in the production. Each year the production offers something unique, such as using a shadow casting technique with disabled actors. This year, Oliver! features six DHH students (more than ever before), and there are a whopping four sets of identical twins participating in the production, two in each cast.

Nearly 1300 students have participated in MCT over the years, with some even going on to success in regional theatre groups, television and film, including Brett Davern, who has appeared several times this season on CBS' s "Cold Case." Another MCT alum Kevin Hamedani has directed a film airing in February 2010 in major theaters called "Zombies of Mass Destruction".

Oliver! is based on Charles Dickens' touching tale of an orphan boy who runs away from an orphanage and tries to pick a pocket or two, but gets caught. The show spawned several musical standards including "Food, Glorious Food", "Consider Yourself", "As Long as He Needs Me", "You've Got to Pick a Pocket or Two", "Oom-Pah-Pah" and "Where is Love?" and the 1968 film version won six Academy Awards.

DATES: Thursday, March 25 at 7:00pm (ASL Interpreted – Charles cast)

Friday, March 26 at 7:00pm (Dickens cast)

Saturday, March 27 at 2:00pm (ASL Interpreted) and 7:00pm (Charles cast)

Sunday, March 28, 2008 at 12:30pm and 5:00pm (Dickens cast)

Price: $5 children, $10 adults
Directed By: Ted Jaquith
Age Range: All Ages
Ticket Phone: 425-774-8639
Contact: Deborah Hargrave
