ODOT Makes History With Estimated $67.5 Million in Subcontracting Opportunities for Northeast Ohio Disadvantaged Businesses

July 27 Flagship Event for Women, Minorities, Small and Disadvantaged Businesses Across Northeast Ohio Cleveland (Monday, July 19, 2010) – The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) is providing opportunities to disadvantaged businesses in Northeast Ohio for nearly $67.5 million in construction, supplies, trucking and professional services contracts. The work is for the new I-90 Innerbelt Bridge project. These business opportunities reflect a Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) participation goal of 15 percent of the estimated $450 million design-build project. In an extraordinary move, ODOT has set the aspirational DBE participation goal to $90 million, or 20 percent of the project.

This ODOT DBE Outreach Event will familiarize DBE and small subcontractors, consultants and vendors with an understanding of the overall project including: potential subcontracting opportunities, the approved Design Build Teams (DBT), the overall project delivery methodology, the DBE submission requirements for the DBTs, provide opportunities for the DBT to meet with DBEs and small businesses, to foster team building and networking opportunities, clarify the prequalification and certification requirements.

The Ohio Department of Development (ODOD) recently issued the FY2011 Request for Proposals (RFPs) for the Ohio Third Frontier Cluster Development Programs.

ODOD anticipates awarding up to $21 million in grants through FY2011 for the Cluster Development Programs listed below. Awards will be up to $1 million, with additional funding for capital expenses.
