Inspired by the works of Frank Stella and Elizabeth Murray, emerging artist Julio Cesar Rodarte starts his creative process by first constructing a canvas in an unusual shape. Once he has his sculptural form, he then paints on the shapes with colorful repetitive patterns, geometric shapes, forms, silhouettes, numbers, going wherever the inspiration of the form takes him. In honor of President’s Day this February, the Anthem Art Gallery at The Caepe School will exhibit a collection of portraits of the nation’s 44 presidents. New York artist, Adam Clemente's “Presidential Portraits” will portray a separate image of each man who has served in the Oval Office. The opening event for the exhibit will be 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. Feb. 20 at the Anthem Art Gallery, where Clemente will be present.

Half Price Books is launching its 12th Annual Half Pint Library Book Drive. This 6-week program collects and distributes children’s books to families and children in need through local non-profit and community organizations. AAA Arizona Crossing Guard of the Year Nomination Deadline

AAA Arizona is accepting nominations for its third annual Crossing Guard of the Year Award.
School administrators, faculty, staff, parents, students and community members are invited to describe why they believe their candidate deserves the Crossing Guard of the Year designation. Self-nominations will also be accepted. AAA Arizona staff will evaluate nominations to select finalists for the award based on dedication, friendliness, professionalism and safety.
Once finalists are selected, their performance and duties will be evaluated by AAA Arizona traffic safety staff. Two finalists, one from Pima County and Maricopa County, who demonstrate the best example of the procedures and responsibilities outlined in AAA’s Handbook for Adult Crossing Guards, will be awarded the honor. The winners will be announced on Crossing Guard Appreciation Day, April 30, 2010.

The Liberty Elementary School Chorus and
Musical Theater group will present four performances of “Annie Jr.”
Performance times are 7 p.m. Friday, March 12; 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday,
March 13th and 2 p.m. Sunday, March 14th. All performances – which are
open to the public -- will be held in the multi-purpose room of Liberty
Elementary School, located at 5125 E. Marilyn in Scottsdale.

Liberty’s talented 4th-6th graders will bring to life the characters and songs –

Why must paint be applied only to square or rectangular canvases? Inspired by the works of Frank Stella and Elizabeth Murray, emerging artist Julio Cesar Rodarte starts his creative process by first constructing a canvas in an unusual shape. Once he has his sculptural form, he then paints on the shapes with colorful repetitive patterns, geometric shapes, forms, silhouettes, numbers, going wherever the inspiration of the form takes him. In honor of President’s Day this February, the Anthem Art Gallery at The Caepe School will exhibit a collection of portraits of the nation’s 44 presidents. New York artist, Adam Clemente's “Presidential Portraits” will portray a separate image of each man who has served in the Oval Office. The opening event for the exhibit will be 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. Feb. 20 at the Anthem Art Gallery, where Clemente will be present.

New York artist, Adam Clemente's “Presidential Portraits” will portray a separate image of each man who has served in the Oval Office. Bead Inspired is a fun, FREE community event featuring bead stringing activities, glass bead making demonstrations, entertainment, celebrity guest appearances and more.
Every year more than 10,000 children between the ages of 1-18 years are diagnosed with cancer. The treatment journey for these children is very challenging involving many painful and uncomfortable procedures. Developed by a pediatric oncology nurse in March of 2005, children are given beads as symbols of honor and acknowledgement during their treatment journey. Handmade beads donated by artists provide one-of-a-kind beads for treatment milestones. The Beads of Courage Program now serves over 60 children’s hospitals nationwide, including Phoenix Children’s Hospital and Cardon Children’s Medical Center.

In honor of President’s Day this February, the Anthem Art Gallery at The Caepe School will exhibit a collection of portraits of the nation’s 44 presidents. New York artist, Adam Clemente's “Presidential Portraits” will portray a separate image of each man who has served in the Oval Office. African Wildlife Artist Fred Krakowiak Featured at Artist Brunch

Fred Krakowiak, a leading artist in wildlife, will be the featured guest for an interactive Artist Brunch from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. March 21 at Lon's at The Hermosa in Paradise Valley.
Throughout the morning, Krakowiak will be available for one-on-one interaction with guests as he demonstrates his artistic techniques on Lon's scenic patio. Krakowiak specializes in paintings of wildlife from Africa and across the world, capturing them in motion using mediums such as oil on copper and dye on silk.
Blessed with the gift of an artist's eye, he is able to detail every nuance of the animal's very existence. Formally trained in the ancient art of Sumi (pictures in ink), he has more than 25 years of conventional study in various mediums including watercolor, oil, pen and ink, and dye on silk.
