A new exhibition at the Houghton Library explores their relationship and its legacy, and includes a selection of Keats' letters to Brawne, a lock of Brawne's hair, Oscar Wilde's response to the 1885 auction of Keats' love letters, and more.

Logan's Run
Science
Lately we've heard heated debates about fictitious "death panels" in health care reform. But the brontosaurus in the tea house nobody wants to talk about is overpopulation. So Hollywood steps in and does it for us. Here we witness a dystopian future society that maintains equilibrium by demanding death of everyone upon reaching a certain age. And the hero of our story, why he's just about to have that very special last birthday! Rating: PG-13.

A new exhibition at the Houghton Library explores their relationship and its legacy, and includes a selection of Keats' letters to Brawne, a lock of Brawne's hair, Oscar Wilde's response to the 1885 auction of Keats' love letters, and more.

Teaching across the Disciplines at the Harvard Art Museum
Art/Design
Works of art on view and the museum space itself can be used to introduce undergraduates to new ways of thinking and engaging the world around them. Taking the Harvard College Writing Program as an example, the speakers will explore opportunities for teaching in the galleries.
This popular series pairs presenters to consider objects from more than one point of view. The informal talks, by Harvard Art Museum curators, conservators, and educators, and Harvard University faculty members, are designed to stimulate thinking about works of art and encourage participants to explore their own ways of seeing.
Gallery talks are informal and include discussion.

Social Science Dean's Conversation: "Changing Education at Harvard"
Social Sciences
Celebrate the end of the semester with a discussion about education.

In this Dean's Conversation, "Changing Education at Harvard: What Twenty Years of Research Tells Us about Effective Teaching and Advising," Stephen Kosslyn, dean of social science, will moderate a discussion between Richard Light, Gale Professor of Education, and Eric Mazur, Balkanski Professor of Physics, about their separate approaches to studying how to maximize learning and engagement in undergraduates.
There will be ample opportunity for comments and questions from the audience.

The Philip and Frances Hofer Lecture. Cutting Remarks: The Preparation of Woodcuts, 1400-1600
Art/Design
The "history" of the physical craft of cutting woodblocks for the printing of woodcuts has remained almost unstudied. This talk will rely on detailed slides of a number of anonymous fifteenth-century blocks in order to sketch the early development of the cutter's technique. The ultimate achievements of Dürer, Altdorfer, Cranach, Burgkmair, Bruegel will round out a picture that remained mostly unchanged until ca. 1800. At the conclusion, the audience will be asked to consider its opinions about a series of blocks that most scholars regard as forgeries, two examples of which are at Harvard.
