"Fancy Work" by Jessica Poser. Poser researched the collections at Historic Huguenot Street with a particular focus on patterns. The textile collections which include many woven coverlets, appealed to her in their abstract, almost pixilated details. When Professor William Innes Homer, dean of American art historians, examined the life’s work of an unknown artist in 2007, he was stunned by what he found: a large body of extraordinary abstract landscape and figurative paintings by a highly gifted artist who was completely unknown in his lifetime. Soon a team of art historians was conducting research into the life and art of Arthur Pinajian (1914-1999). The result is a book and traveling exhibition entitled, Pinajian: Master of Abstraction Discovered. They perpetrate increasingly unlawful acts of political satire and recycle literary classics, adapting them to rap, blues, bop, hip-hop, high-tech hillbilly, and other, even scruffier musical idioms. Tom Holmes, an internationally known sculptor, will present a new series of ice photographs from this past ice season along with steel and stone sculptures. New conceptual work will also be presented.
Rick Weber, ceramic sculptor, will feature carved and altered clay spheres in a new and larger format. This exhibit will highlight the museum’s Civil War flag, made by Orange County resident Liana Austin Dolson. The exhibit will feature a large illustration of Dolson’s family tree, and descendants are invited to visit the museum to ensure their families are properly recorded on the family tree.

When Professor William Innes Homer, dean of American art historians, examined the life’s work of an unknown artist in 2007, he was stunned by what he found: a large body of extraordinary abstract landscape and figurative paintings by a highly gifted artist who was completely unknown in his lifetime. Soon a team of art historians was conducting research into the life and art of Arthur Pinajian (1914-1999). The result is a book and traveling exhibition entitled, Pinajian: Master of Abstraction Discovered.
