Online Class - Mindfulness for People with Cancer: Healing from Within
Patient and Family Events
Taught by: Michael Baime, MD
Mindfulness and meditation are powerful tools for people with cancer. Cancer patients face an enormous range of challenges during their diagnosis and treatment. Difficult emotions, fears for the future, treatment side effects, and the need to protect loved ones from distress put tremendous strains on patients and families. Even after treatment is finished, cancer casts a long shadow. Cancer survivors have to cope with traumatic memories of their illness and treatment, and often worry about what might come next. Even after many years, cancer survivors can feel haunted by their experience.
We can help. Our program can teach you to manage the distress and uncertainty that comes with cancer and its aftermath. You will learn how to use your own inner resources to cope with challenges that might have once seemed overwhelming. One moment at a time, one breath after the other, you will be able to step back from reactivity and reconnect with your deeper inner balance. Learn to let go…

Relay has grown into the world's largest movement to end cancer. Each year, more than 3.5 million people in 5,000 communities gather to take part in this global phenomenon and raise much-needed funds and awareness.
At Penn's Relay for Life, teams of people camp out at Franklin Field for an opening lap by cancer survivors and their caregivers, speeches by cancer survivors, a luminaria ceremony, live entertainment, games, food, and many miles of walking and running around the track. Because cancer never sleeps, Relay is an overnight, 24 hour event.
Anyone can participate in Relay For Life. Friends, families, neighbors, teams, etc. can form their own teams. Survivors have the options of starting their own team, registering for an existing team, or registering for the special Survivors' lap only.
