Wesley Enhanced Living Brodheadsville will host an Open Art Show at the community from Saturday, Aug. 29 through Saturday, Sept. 4. The Open Art Show is free and open to the public and features original artwork created by the community’s senior residents.
Nearly 20 senior citizen artists from Wesley Enhanced Living Brodheadsville’s Art Appreciation Club will gather to display their original artwork including abstract paintings, watercolors, oil paintings and sketches. The Open Art Show will consist of three displays – in the dementia care unit, in the assisted living unit and in the community’s lobby.
Resident artists will be positioned next to their artwork and will be available to answer questions.

PA Lions Beacon Lodge Camp announces its 61st consecutive year of camping. The Beacon Lodge is committed to providing individuals with special needs the opportunity to enjoy a camping experience. There is special emphasis placed on interests for recreation, learning, and to encourage new challenges.
A dual program is carried out for children and adults simultaneously, but each group enjoys separate activities, such as bowling, swimming, mini-golf, arts & crafts, music, drama, rock climbing, fishing, paddle-boating, canoeing, kayaking, archery and many more. Children are accommodated in cabins, while adults are housed in dormitories.
The 2009 camping season opens on June 6 and closes August 12. Camp sessions are six or 11 days based on eligibility criteria.

Food for those in need being collected at StroudFest

StroudFest will be held from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, rain or shine, in downtown Stroudsburg.
The United Way of Monroe County, the main sponsor of this year’s event, is sponsoring a food drive as part of its campaign kick-off that day. With many people unemployed and unemployment benefits running out, the demand at local food pantries continues to be great.
StroudFest attendees are asked to bring a nonperishable food item and also learn how United Way helps those in need in our community. Items can be brought to the United Way’s booth at the corner of Main and North Seventh streets in Stroudsburg. Bring along some canned goods for your neighbors in need.
Donations can include boxes or canned items such as: cereal, pasta, rice, crackers, vegetables, tuna, sauces, soups, juice and peanut butter. Boxed baby food and diapers/wipes are also welcome, as are toiletries like shampoo, deodorant and toilet paper. Food in glass containers and expired items should not be donated.

Wesley Enhanced Living Brodheadsville will host an Open Art Show at the community from Saturday, Aug. 29 through Saturday, Sept. 4. The Open Art Show is free and open to the public and features original artwork created by the community’s senior residents.
Nearly 20 senior citizen artists from Wesley Enhanced Living Brodheadsville’s Art Appreciation Club will gather to display their original artwork including abstract paintings, watercolors, oil paintings and sketches. The Open Art Show will consist of three displays – in the dementia care unit, in the assisted living unit and in the community’s lobby.
Resident artists will be positioned next to their artwork and will be available to answer questions.

Vocal Union is an all-vocal, contemporary gospel group from Nashville, Tennessee. Having discovered a niche in many churches around the country, Vocal Union became a touring group in 1998 and since then, has performed in a variety of venues that include Carnegie Hall and the White House Christmas celebration.
