The Bluestone Gallery will open a major exhibition of work by artists Adam and Michael Lowenbein. The show exhibit titled “Generations” is a unique composite of works by solo artist Adam Lowenbein, along with work of his late father Michael Lowenbein.
“My father Michael painted the people, places and things he lived. He painted only what he believed was essential in a picture,” said Adam Lowenbein. “My work is a more contemplative experience and employs natural imagery such as birds, foliage and landscape as will as unnatural images that appear through free association. I endeavor to create a resonant moment out of chaos – a kind of meditative escape.”
The opening reception will provide an opportunity to meet Adam Lowenbein, mingle with the local artistic community and see some great art. The opening will be held on Saturday November 21st between 6-9pm. Light refreshments will be served.

LHVA announces its inaugural "Views from the Valley" photo contest. Amateur and professional photographers are invited to submit images that help to tell the story of the Lackawanna Valley. All images must be of the Lackawanna Heritage Valley, which includes all of Lackawanna County and designated townships or boroughs of Luzerne, Wayne and Susquehanna Counties. PA Lions Beacon Lodge Camp announces its 61st consecutive year of camping. The Beacon Lodge is committed to providing individuals with special needs the opportunity to enjoy a camping experience. There is special emphasis placed on interests for recreation, learning, and to encourage new challenges.
A dual program is carried out for children and adults simultaneously, but each group enjoys separate activities, such as bowling, swimming, mini-golf, arts & crafts, music, drama, rock climbing, fishing, paddle-boating, canoeing, kayaking, archery and many more. Children are accommodated in cabins, while adults are housed in dormitories.
The 2009 camping season opens on June 6 and closes August 12. Camp sessions are six or 11 days based on eligibility criteria.

Mr. Person is busy working his own gigs; booking his tours, finding new clubs, having phone numbers for every major concert promoter on every continent. He even produces his own albums. His first big break came while working as a sideman with organist Johnny Hammond and his group, co-led by Etta Jones. Mr. Person's working relationship with Ms. Jones began in 1973 and lasted for thirty years, until her recent passing in 2001.
