Uniting Communities Benefit Dinner
Religious
Five Talents is celebrating 10 years of uniting communities in some of the poorest and riskiest places in the world – from the slums of India to the mountains of Bolivia. No place is more risky and poor than Sudan where Five Talents is supporting a village bank named “Amat Wuot,” which literally means “A Union of Communities” in Dinka, the local language.
Join us to hear the testimony of the Rev. Thomas Anei, who is now witnessing how this village bank is bringing hope and opportunity to Lietnhom, a southern Sudanese town that is rebuilding after being reduced to ashes during regional conflicts just 18 months ago!
You will be inspired by this story of how Five Talents works to fight poverty, create jobs and transform lives in Sudan and around the world!

Lecture - Dr. Ken Croswell
Community
The stars that speckle the sky have long fascinated humanity, but only in the past century have astronomers figured out how stars are born, live, and die. Now we can use that knowledge to address the question: Which stars near the Sun might have planets with intelligent life? Drawing on both the laws of stellar evolution and the latest discoveries of extrasolar planets, Harvard-trained astronomer Dr. Ken Croswell describes the lives of stars and the alien worlds they may support.
The presentation will be family friendly and Dr. Croswell will sign his new book, The Lives of Stars after the presentation. Included with exhibit admission and free for members.

SEATTLE PREMIERE OF FILM ABOUT PAPER FOLDING
AT THE INTERSECTION OF ART, MATHEMATICS, AND SCIENCE
Get your fold on. On Saturday, November 21, 2009 at 3:30 PM Community Cinema Seattle presents the free Seattle premiere of BETWEEN THE FOLDS directed, written and produced by Vanessa Gould at SIFF Cinema. When you look at a piece of paper, what do you see? Blurring the mysterious lines between art, science, sculpture and math, the film is an exhilarating adventure into origami - or paperfolding - featuring works of art whose emotional expressiveness and engineering complexity defy logic. Just as Michelangelo might have seen a statue standing frozen inside a block of marble, the eccentric artists and scientists in BETWEEN THE FOLDS envision the three-dimensional possibilities of paper, and, as if by alchemy, change the mundane into the poetic and magical — all with no scissors, no tape and no glue. Ultimately, the medium of paperfolding itself — a blank, uncut square — emerges as a resounding metaphor for the…

With a show only weeks away, they must learn a slate of new songs ranging from James Brown to Coldplay. The chorus’ director leads them through tough rehearsals, proving that rock and roll can be hard work––especially if you’re hard of hearing! Icons of Washington History
Family
What makes Washington different from anywhere else in the world? Is it the landscape? Our people?
Washington State History Museum Director, David Nicandri, has picked out some of the best representations of our state from the Washington State Historical Society's collection to display. View some of the features, events, people and landscapes that make Washington distinct.
This exhibit not only identifies icons, but explores why and how these icons came to be symbols of our state. More than 65 items have been selected to represent Washington in this exhibit. View Ezra Meeker's covered wagon; see a chunk of concrete from Galloping Gertie; hear Dave Niehaus announce the Mariners 1995 American League Division Series win over the New York Yankees; look over representations of our plentiful natural resources, World's Fair materials, and much more.
See what Washington has given the country, and the world.
