Learn how to sew a drawstring backpack. We will be learning the basics of machine sewing and finish with sewing a super cute backpack!
Beginners are welcome!
If you would like to bring your own fabric please bring ½ yard of woven cotton - medium weight fabric.
About the TeacherAmy Blea is an apparel designer, entrepreneur and educator. Her background includes a business and marketing degree from California Polytechnic University at San Luis Obispo and an apparel design degree from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York (she graduated magna cum laude.) While in New York, she learned the techniques of draping, patternmaking, sewing, tailoring, illustration and working in leather. As a designer, she worked for several companies including, Nanette Lepore, Calvin Klein, Chaps Ralph Lauren and Pacific Sunwear. Upon returning to Los Angeles, she launched a women’s clothing collection, Seed Clothing, www.seedclothing.com. Seed Clothing was sold in exclusive boutiques on the west coast and on www.etsy.com all around the world. With a desire to give back to the community and teach the craft of patternmaking and sewing, she started teaching workshops. She has been teaching for over 10 years and is currently an instructor at the Art Center College of Design and Makerspace instructor at the Glendale Central Library.
