The inaugural Sip 'n Poem at Callisto Tea House will be a night of poetry and prompts celebrating Black History month through Black Art.... and TEA! Prompts will guide folks on a journey of the senses — smelling (and surely tasting) African teas, viewing dope Black visual art, hearing poignant lyrics, and more. Our senses inspire images in our minds, and imagery is the heart of poetry.
To celebrate and honor Black History Month, Callisto Tea House is highlighting two teas from the Great Rift Valley of Kenya — Savannah Sunrise (Black Tea) and Ruby Slippers (Kenya Black Tea + Rose Petals) — and two herbal blends using the famed Rooibos and Honeybush from South Africa — Peach Elixir and Celestial Clockwork.
The evening will start with poetry readings by the hosts, followed by poetry writing using visual and sense prompts, and end with poetry reading by patrons.
