This interactive workshop is designed to support faculty in navigating research pivots during periods of uncertainty or transition. Whether prompted by global disruptions, shifts in funding priorities, or evolving scientific interests, the session will provide practical strategies for adapting research agendas and sustaining momentum. The program will include a panel discussion with faculty who have successfully repositioned their work, followed by short talks on alternative funding opportunities beyond the NIH and emerging NIH priorities. Participants will gain insight into planning resilient research paths and identifying new directions in a changing landscape.
The Researcher Survival Skills series is designed to provide researchers with the skills they need to succeed in academic medicine. Traditional skills like manuscript and grant writing will be discussed, as well as addressing lab/research team management, people skills, navigating research administration, and other topics not covered in professional school. It is suggested to consider this series as a curriculum where each session builds on previous ones, but faculty are also welcome to attended individual sessions as well.
