Are you interested in careers outside of traditional academic research? Emory’s Office of Technology Transfer is recruiting interns for their 2020-2021 cohort! Technology transfer is the process of commercializing academic research through industry partners and university startups. Interns will gain exposure to intellectual property law, business development, and entrepreneurship through hands-on projects and mentorship from licensing and patent professionals. At this information session, Licensing Associate and former intern John Nicosia, PhD, will share his experience transitioning from research to tech transfer, and give details on the internship program. Come learn about the next step of your career!
Speaker Info: John Nicosia is a licensing associate at Emory’s Office of Technology Transfer, where he manages licensing of a portfolio of technologies. His background is in biomedical engineering, and he previously conducted research involving lung fibrosis, nanomaterials, stem cell engineering, and biomedical ultrasound. Before joining the licensing team, John interned at OTT for two years, working with licensing associates, patent attorneys, and the startup services group. John received his PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Georgia Tech and Emory, where his thesis work focused on toxicity and hemocompatibility of deformable polymeric microparticles.
