The Graduate School of Arts and Sciences Mission and Values statement emphasizes a community of critical thinkers, leaders, and visionaries. The first step to becoming an effective leader is discovering your values, purpose and the influences on such that form the bedrock of your leadership. In this 3-hour workshop, you will better understand the essence of character-based leadership by exploring the defining moments in your life, understanding how they shaped your values and unpacking the resources you have available to effectively lead with purpose and conviction. You will come away with greater self-awareness as well as a draft leadership philosophy that will serve as a compass for your actions as you influence and inspire stakeholders. This is a unique opportunity and space is limited! A light dinner will be served.Diane M. Ryan is the Associate Dean for Programs and Administration in the Jonathan M. Tisch College of Civic Life at Tufts University and holds faculty appointments in the Eliot Pearson Department of Child Studies and Human Development and the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy. Prior to joining Tufts, Diane was an Academy Professor, Director of the Eisenhower Leader Development Program with Columbia University and Deputy Department Head in the Department of Behavioral Sciences and Leadership at the United States Military Academy, West Point, NY.
